Jazz Artist Robert Glasper Slams Lauryn Hill

Social media has been talking quite a bit about Lauryn Hill.

Musician Robert Glasper recently chatted it up with 97.9 The Box.

In the interview, he didn’t hold back when he discussed what it was like to work with Lauryn Hill.

He played the piano in her band for a 20 minute set.

Robert claims he was irritated that Lauryn kept showing up late to rehearsals and then changing things up all the time.

The band was instructed not to make eye contact with Lauryn, and to call her Miss Hill.

However, the last straw was when Lauryn’s team told the band that their pay was going to be cut in half because Lauryn didn’t like how they were learning the music.

This was a huge red flag to Robert because he claims Lauryn has a reputation of firing good bands for no reason.

Lauryn also got $500,000 for the show.

Since he didn’t need the money as a successful Jazz artist in his own right, he decided to quit and go home. He was stopped on the way out, and Lauryn’s team agreed to pay him the full amount he was promised and they wired it to his bank account in 30 minutes.

Regardless, the alleged experience left a bad taste in his mouth.

He went all the way in and said the following:

You can’t come into a situation, especially when you’ve already stolen all my friends’ music, The Miseducation was made by great musicians and producers that I know. Personally. So if you got a big head off music that you didn’t even write…you feel me though?

I went into it knowing okay, you steal music.

I’ve met Stevie Wonder and hung out with Stevie. I’ve met Quincy Jones and hung out with Quincy Jones. I’ve met Herbie Hancock and hung out with Herbie Hancock. If those three people can be cool, Lauryn Hill should be able to be cool. You haven’t done enough to be the way you are. You have not. The one thing you did do that was great, you didn’t do.
