Keyshia Cole Goes off When She Gets Asked to be an Opening Act

Keyshia Cole is an artist that truly tends to find common ground with her fans as many of them like how raw she is, not willing to conform to the ever changing world of music. In an industry where cross over appeal increases an artist’s fan base and often helps them climb to the top of the charts, Keyshia has stayed true to R&B music and it has continued to work out pretty well for her. In the midst of putting out new music, Keyshia filmed a reality show with her husband NBA player Daniel “Booby” Gibson, taking her fans and critics both into her new life as a mother and wife, a stint that Keyshia even admitted that she regrets doing. Now that their show is over, Keyshia is completely back to her music and was even said to be putting on a performance recently. Only problem is, it was one that she hadn’t planned to be doing.

Keyshia was asked by 106 KMEL to perform at a concert that was being held in her hometown of Oakland, California. While most would think that she would be thrilled to perform back in her hometown for her fans that have been down for her before the fame came along, she wasn’t at all for a couple of reasons. Due to 106 KMEL’s last minute request, Keyshia refused to do the show yet her name was attached to the show anyway. And she got even more pissed when she was asked to be the opening act. Keyshia’ s refusal to perform had some of her fans feeling like she was being a diva by not wanting to open for the show while others were sympathetic towards her, figuring that she merely didn’t want to do it because she was given short notice. Keyshia Cole, not being one that is afraid to blast people from her Twitter account, addressed the situation with 106 KMEL and tried to explain herself to disappointed fans that went out and purchased tickets, expecting to see her perform. Before they started to go in on her too hard, Keyshia made it clear that she would have never had the success that she has had as an artist if she made it a habit to be a no show for her performances:

 

Keyshia then went slam off on 106 KMEL for the stunt they pulled, making her look bad to her fans. And she wasn’t too thrilled that they asked her to be the opening act either:

Keyshia Cole’s main beef with 106 KMEL was because they asked her at the last minute to perform at the concert and they took it upon themselves to use her name anyway, even though she refused to do the show, making look bad. Regardless though, whether the concert was in her hometown or not, it seemed that Keyshia was not too keen on the idea of being an opening act.
