Shaunie O’Neal Gives Update on Brandi Maxiell’s ‘Firing’ + Spills Some BBWLA Tea

Shaunie O’Neal gave an update on the situation to VH1 and she spilled a little tea too on how fearful Brandi was about losing her job behind the scenes despite talking tough on Twitter.

Shaunie says:

Between the time that we wrapped and the reunion, I heard from Brandi 20 times to get reassurance that she would come back to the show. She said, “I am not fired, am I? You didn’t really fire me, did you? I apologize. I didn’t really mean that. I was amped up and I was trying to make good TV. Blah, blah, blah, I love you.” I got a million of those calls from her before the reunion because she wanted to make sure that it wasn’t going to keep keep going at the reunion. “You are not gonna say I am fired at the reunion, are you? That’s not gonna be a surprise moment?” I had no intentions of doing that because this is a business and when I thanked her for her services, I didn’t fire her on that level. I just wanted to convey, you can keep it pushing if that’s how you feel but understand that you receive a check for this and I treat you just like I treat everyone else. What she was talking about was straight bullshit and that attacked my character.

As far as whether or not Malaysia got up with Brandi, I like Malaysia but she never left that table. It’s funny. Tami called me when she saw them on social media. Brandi was saying that Malaysia got up and I think Malaysia said she got up and Tami said, “See that ain’t right. They’re just going to blatantly lie like there weren’t four other people at that table.” After our argument, Brandi left and we couldn’t see her but the crew off camera said that she cried and got emotional. Then she gathered herself up and came back to my side of my table and pulled my chair out. Brandi is a strong girl, so she pulled my chair out and sat on my lap and gave me a hug and told me she was sorry. Everybody else is sitting when this was happening so I have several witnesses. She gave me a hug and said, “Don’t be mad at me, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that.” It happened immediately and she’s sitting in my lap doing all of this. I can’t remember if cameras were still rolling or not, but the whole crew and all of the other cast members witnessed this whole moment.

I’m not mad at Brandi for having an opinion because if she feels like I am a b—h, that’s her opinion and everybody is entitled to one, but please don’t continue to put yourself be in this environment. When we left the reunion, in my mind, Brandi was going to be a returning of next season and I hope she will be. Now, how much of next season she will be involved is another question. I have not talked to her and probably will not until we get ready to get film.

  1. So to sum this sh-t up, Shaunie was once again put in her place and reminded by VH1 that she has no pull whatsoever. Lmao.

  2. When is Shaunie going to stop pretending like she has a say so with what happens with casting? She’s no Mona Scott Young and never will be.

    1. I think Shaunie needs to keep pretending for her ego. She needs to believe she’s some business woman but she’s really not. She wants to be more than just Shaq’s ex wife and I get that, but at least play the game smart and make sure you can get some actual clout over the shows you pitch.

    2. Mona is just plain smarter than Shaunie. But I think Mona had more connections because she was in the music business for a very long time. It was easy for her to transition into reality television.

  3. It sounds like both of them were fronting. Shaunie doesn’t have the power to fire Brandi and Brandi wasn’t the thug she was pretending to be on Twitter. She was behind the scenes begging for her job back. LOL.

  4. Huh??????? I am sure if someone told Mona Scott she was a B….they would be fired. Look at what happened to “No neck” Benzino and Hoe-thea….they had a lot of mouth and attitude towards production and ended up losing their jobs LMAO….Shaunie knows damn well if she really had pull a lot of bishes would be jobless on #BBWLA

  5. Shaunie sounds dumb. When she told Brandi her services were no longer needed she was firing her. She only had to take it back because VH1 shut that down. And that’s how you know BBW isn’t really her show. She’s just a puppet. And she was forced to be on BBWLA too just like the employee she is.

  6. Shaunie is to BBWLA what Mariah is to Married to Medicine…an EP in name only with no hiring or firing power. She needs to quit fronting!

  7. Well all this does is remind people how very different Shaunie and Mona are. Mona actually has a real background in business and she’s been making deals in the industry for over 20 years. So she’s great at negotiating and she was able to strike a real deal with VH1 that gives her true power. Shaunie got most of her wealth from her divorce from Shaq. She would do herself a favor by taking some business and negotiating classes so she wouldn’t be pushed around by VH1 all the time.
