The current season of “Basketball Wives” has not been lacking in drama.

Jennifer Williams is pretty much at odds with most of the cast.

She is responsible for putting out a rumor about Evelyn Lozada and Shaunie O’Neal’s ex.

Although Tami Roman is the one who told Shaunie what Jennifer said, it was later revealed that Jennifer intended on using the rumor to turn everyone on the show against Evelyn.

It’s also been suspected Jennifer aborted the plan once she got back friendly with Evelyn.

Then of course there was another controversy thanks to Evelyn hitting Cece Gutierrez with a racially insensitive clap back.

That led to a lot of discussion on social media, but the ratings for the season have been lukewarm.

Season 7 premiered with 1.86 million viewers. Season 6 premiered with 2.61 million viewers. That’s about a 30 percent drop.

The season 7 low came in at episode 12 when the ratings dropped to 904,000 viewers. Ratings haven’t been that low since season 2.

Luckily, the show was able to rebound to 1.07 million viewers with episode 14. We’re sure more people are starting to tune back in as the “table throwing” incident approaches.

So what caused the huge drop to under a million viewers? It’s pretty clear that VH1 moving the show to Sunday nights has done more harm than good for the ratings. Episode 8 was the season’s first Sunday airing. Ratings dropped down to 1.06 million viewers from the 1.86 million viewers episode 7 brought in.

Interestingly enough, the show jumped back up to 1.67 million viewers episode 9 but couldn’t hold on to the strong ratings as the show’s ratings dipped to under a million viewers episodes 11, 12 and 13.

Although viewers are now mainly aware that the show has moved to Sunday nights, they are still not watching like they were earlier in the season.

“Basketball Wives” should see a bump up as the show draws closer to the reunion. But what do you think the show needs to do to revive ratings season 8?
